以观测地点子午圈为准测定的天文时。由于地球从西向东不停地自转，位于不同经线上的观测者，同一瞬间的地方时是有差异的。两地地方时之差即为它们的经度之差。

1. 各地因经度不同，太阳经过各地子午线的时间也不同，把太阳正对某地子午线的时间定为该地中午十二点，这样定出来的时间称做地方时。
