1. 指人的自然至诚之性。

   《礼记·中庸》：“故君子尊德性而道问学。” 郑玄 注：“德性，谓性至诚者也。” 孔颖达 疏：“‘君子尊德性’者，谓君子贤人尊敬此圣人道德之性，自然至诚也。” 明 王守仁 《传习录》卷上：“ 孔子 所定‘三百篇’……皆所以宣畅和平，涵泳德性，移风易俗。” 清 梅曾亮 《＜太乙舟山房文集＞序》：“盖其德性粹正得之天，而襮其真於外者，於文其大端也。”

2. 品性；品质。

   清 李渔 《风筝误·和鹞》：“就当才貌都有了，那举止未必端庄，德性未必贞静。”《二十年目睹之怪现状》第二一回：“初读书的时候，便教他读了《女诫》、《女孝经》之类，同他讲解明白了，自然他就明理；明了理，自然德性就有了基础。” 沈从文 《绅士的太太》：“凡是一切绅士的坏德性，他们都不曾缺少。” 王鲁彦 《厦门印象》：“除了很好的体格以外，他们还有很好的德性。”

3. 方言。指不入眼的模样、品行。含有轻蔑意。

   曹禺 《日出》第三幕：“ 胡四 ……你瞧见这个么？大爷有的是洋钱。可就凭你这德性（向 黑三 ），一个子也不值！”参见“ 德行 ”。
