对企业、事业、机关、团体等单位的帐目进行检查的活动。有按特定目的和要求对部分帐目进行的检查；也有对某一定时期的帐目进行全面的检查。有时也用作审计工作的同义语。

1. 检查帐目。

   《二十年目睹之怪现状》第三九回：“我去年交给大哥的，是整数二千银子，怎么我这回去查帐，却见我名下的股份，是二千二百五十两？” 洪深 《冯大少爷》：“老太爷从 苏州 来，就查帐，动了真气。”

2. 谓查实。

   清 李渔 《奈何天·计左》：“你説与他各房居住，不曾失身，这句话儿叫我那里去查帐。”
