以舰艇部队为主体，主要在海上作战的军种。具有在水面、水中、空中作战的能力。能单独在海上作战，又能与陆军、空军协同作战。参见〔兵种〕

1. 在海上作战的军队。现代海军通常由水面舰艇、潜水艇、海军航空兵。海军陆战队等各兵种及各种专业部队组成。别于陆军和空军而言。
