1. 伸手拉人一把以解救其困厄。语出《孟子·离娄上》：“天下溺，援之以道；嫂溺，援之以手。” 宋 苏轼 《洗玉池铭》：“援手之劳，终睨莫拾。” 清 纪昀 《阅微草堂笔记·滦阳消夏录三》：“父陷寃狱，得公一语可活。公肯援手，当不惜此身。”

2. 泛指援助。

   《二刻拍案惊奇》卷七：“不遇援手，焉復其所。” 李大钊 《青春》：“何待他人之援手，始以遂其生者。”
