用某些动物的毛制成的笔，是书写汉字和画中国画的传统工具。分紫毫（兔毛）、狼毫（黄鼠狼毛）、羊毫（羊毛）、间毫（杂以两种动物的毛）等多种类型。

1. 以兽毛制成的笔。初用兔毛，后亦用羊、鼬、狼、鸡等动物毛。笔管以竹或其它质料制成。头圆而尖，用于传统的书写和图画。目前实物发现，最早的为 战国 时期。参阅 宋 苏易简 《文房四谱》、《文物参考资料》1954年第12期。
