2. 古代制科之一。

   汉文帝 时始诏举“贤良方正能直言极諫者”，多为举荐；后成为制科之一，如 唐 有“贤良方正直言极諫科”， 清 代有“孝廉方正科”，有举荐和自荐之别，先荐，后廷试。以德行方正为取士的主要标准。
