弦乐器，木筒两面蒙蟒皮，上端有长柄，有三根弦。分大三弦和小三弦两种，大三弦又叫大鼓三弦，用作大鼓书的伴奏乐器；小三弦又叫曲弦，用作昆曲、弹词等的伴奏乐器。通称弦子。

1. 弦乐器。木筒两端蒙蛇皮，上置长柄，有弦三根，故名。

2. 即三弦。

   明 杨慎 《艺林伐山·三絃所始》：“今之三絃，始于 元 时。” 清 黄景仁 《十四夜歌宴》诗：“半黍欲飘风更约，三絃初定月无声。”
