1. 拨动；拨弄。

3. 指点。

   《朱子语类》卷七八：“某尝欲作《书》説，竟不曾成，如制度之属，祗以疏文为本，若其他未稳处，更与挑剔，令分明，便得。”《五灯会元·黄山轮禅师法嗣·郢州桐泉禅师》：“‘请师挑剔。’师曰：‘攂鼓转船头，棹穿波里月。’”《景德传灯录·郢州桐泉山和尚》作“挑揥”。

4. 书法中由下而上的一种笔划。

   宋 姜夔 《续书谱·真》：“挑剔者，字之步履，欲其沉实。 晋 人挑剔，或带斜拂，或横引向外，至 颜 柳 始正锋为之。”
