直径达数百千米的空气旋涡。旋涡的中心是低气压区，风从四周向中心刮。气旋过境时往往降雨或降雪。

气旋 [qì xuán]

1. 在低压系统中心，空气是由系统外围向中心吹送，因为受到地球自转偏向力（又称柯氏力）的影响，其气流运动方向在北半球会向右偏，在南半球则向左偏，因而造成北半球的低压中心气流呈反时针方向流动，南半球则呈顺时针方向流动。这种向低压中心转合的螺旋形气流称为气旋。在气旋中，空气是向中心辐合，因而造成中心空气上升。空气上升是按照绝热过程降温，这时会产生凝结现象，因而会导致降水，所以气旋或低压中心通常都伴随着多云或有雨的天气。
