1. 湖名。古称 震泽 、 具区 、又称 五湖 、 笠泽 。地跨 江苏 、 浙江 二省。它承受 大运河 和 苕溪 来水，主要由 黄浦江 泄入 长江 。洪水期湖面2213平方公里，旧时称三万六千顷，为我国第三大淡水湖。湖中岛屿有48个，以 洞庭东山 、 洞庭西山 、 马迹山 、 鼋头渚 为最著。烟波浩渺，景色多姿，自古称胜景。
