1. 竭尽能力。

   《论语·泰伯》：“﹝ 禹 ﹞卑宫室而尽力乎沟洫。”《史记·淮阴侯列传》：“今足下虽自以与 汉王 为厚交，为之尽力用兵，终为之所禽矣。” 唐 元稹 《捉捕歌》：“尽力穷窟穴，无心自还顾。”《清史稿·颖毅亲王萨哈璘传》：“即不幸先填沟壑，亦復何憾。但当大勋垂集，不能尽力国家，乃辗转牀蓐，为可恨耳！” 叶圣陶 《倪焕之》四：“所以他不管别的，只愿对教育尽力。”

2. 全力，极力。

   《金瓶梅词话》第七三回：“被妇人儘力脸上拧了两把，打了两下嘴巴。” 清 王夫之 《读四书大全说·论语·阳货篇一》：“先儒于此，不儘力説与人知，或亦待人之自喻。”
