   北周 庾信 《奉和赵王隐士》：“野鸟繁弦囀，山花焰火然。”一本作“燄火”。《法苑珠林》卷八一：“观诸饿鬼种种飢渴……焰火焚烧，遍体炽然。”《法苑珠林》卷一一一：“寧食热铁丸，燋热如焰火。”

2. 燃放时能发出各种颜色的火花以供人观赏的物品。也写作“烟火”。

   郭小川 《平炉王出钢记》诗：“ 天安门 的焰火万里路上明，一照照到 包头 钢铁城。” 杨朔 《迎春词》：“要不你到钢铁厂去，那火红飞舞的钢花，真会使你误认做 天安门 上空节日晚上的焰火。”
