国际公制的简称。

1. 亦称“ 米制 ”。旧名“米突制”。其主要优点是：单位的选取有可靠标准；各基本单位(长度、质量)间有密切联系；采取十进位制，使用方便。我国国务院在1959年6月公布，确定为我国的基本计量制度。公制是 法国 在十八世纪末首创的。1875年， 法 、 德 、 美 、 俄 等十七国的代表在 巴黎 签订米突公约，并成立国际计量局，规定几个主要计量单位是：(1)长度单位为米，代号m。(2)质量单位为千克(公斤)，代号kg。(3)容量单位为升，代号l。
