二年生草本植物，叶子心脏形，有长柄，背面有毛，花淡紫色，根肉质。根和嫩叶可做蔬菜，果实、茎叶和根可入药。

1. 二年生草本植物。叶子互生，心脏形，有长柄，背面有毛，花管状，淡紫色，根多肉。根和枝叶可作饲料，根可供食用。中医以种子入药。因实状恶而多刺，又名恶实。
