也译作神甫、司铎。天主教、东正教的神职人员。职位在主教之下，通常是一个教堂的管理者，主持宗教活动。

1. 古时百姓对贤明的地方长官的尊称。有敬之如神，尊之如父之意。

   《后汉书·鲍德传》：“﹝ 鲍德 ﹞累官为 南阳 太守。时岁多荒灾，唯 南阳 丰穰，吏人爱悦，号为‘神父’。”《后汉书·儒林传上·宋登》：“﹝ 宋登 ﹞为 汝阴 令，政为明能，号称‘神父’。”

2. 西方对天主教、东正教一般神职人员的尊称。也写作“神甫”。协助主教管理教务，通常为单个教堂的负责人。
