欧洲文艺复兴时期代表资产阶级文化的主要思潮。有两方面含义：一是指人与自然为对象的世俗文化的研究；一是指资产阶级的人性论和人道主义。强调以人为“主体”和中心，尊重人的本质、利益、需要及多种创造和发展的可能性。其主流是市民阶级反封建、反中世纪神学和禁欲主义的新文化运动。
