在黑龙江、吉 林、辽宁三省西部和内蒙古自治区东北部。东北—西南走向，一般海拔1 100—1 400米，山顶浑圆，东 陡西缓。是中国重要林区之一。

大兴安岭 [dà xīng ān lǐng]

1. 山名。位于我国东北地方。自热河西南向东北延伸到黑龙江边，长达一千五百公里，海拔一千一百至一千四百公尺，略呈东北、西南走向，为蒙古高原与松辽平原的分水岭。森林资源丰富，林积冠于全国。因位于松辽平原西北，故也称为「西兴安岭」。
