按年月记载某人生平主要事迹的书。如《王荆公年谱》。

1. 用编年体裁记载个人生平事迹的著作。大多是后人就其著述及史籍所载事实考订编次而成，如 宋 洪兴祖 编有《韩愈年谱》， 赵子栎 有《杜工部年谱》， 元 程复心 有《孟子年谱》。近世也有出于自作的。

   清 陈康祺 《郎潜纪闻》卷一：“ 阮文达 编公年谱，称公服官四十年，贫如为诸生时。” 柔石 《人间杂记》：“有的还不住问他，－－他父母是谁，住在那里，今年几岁。好似要在他死后，给他编年谱一般。”
