1. 安乐。

   《易·需》：“君子以饮食宴乐。” 高亨 注：“宴，安也。”

2. 宴饮欢乐。

   《左传·文公四年》：“昔诸侯朝正於王，王宴乐之，於是乎赋《湛露》，则天子当阳，诸侯用命也。”《后汉书·董卓传》：“ 卓 为杀耕牛，与共宴乐，豪帅感其意，归相敛得杂畜千餘头以遗之，由是以健侠知名。” 宋 乐史 《杨太真外传》：“尝於便殿与 贵妃 同宴乐， 禄山 每就坐，不拜上而拜 贵妃 。”

3. 古代雅乐之称。即内廷之乐。也叫“燕乐”。

   《左传·昭公九年》：“君彻宴乐，学人舍业，为疾故也。”《大戴礼记·保傅》：“号呼歌謡声音不中律，宴乐雅诵迭乐序……凡此其属太史之任也。” 王聘珍 解诂：“ 郑 注《磬师》云：‘燕乐，房中之乐。’ 贾 疏云：‘即《关雎》、《二南》也。’诵，读曰颂。”

4. 隋 唐 俗乐名。多作“燕乐”。

   隋 唐 时期，在汉族及少数民族民间音乐基础上，吸收部分外来音乐而形成的供宫廷宴饮、娱乐时用的音乐的统称。 宋 沉括 《梦溪笔谈·乐律一》：“自 唐 天宝 十三载，始詔法曲与胡部合奏，自此乐奏全失古法。以先王之乐为‘雅乐’，前世新声为‘清乐’，合胡部者为‘宴乐’。”参阅《新唐书·礼乐志十二》。

5. 宴饮作乐。

   汉 焦赣 《易林·否之损》：“伯歌季舞，讌乐以喜。” 唐 柳芳 《三命判对》：“饮食讌乐，特牲备举，珪璧严奠，少牢是加。” 萧军 《五月的矿山》第十章：“这所用作临时大会场的建筑物，原来是 日本 帝国主义者统治着乌金矿区时期，为他们招待‘贵宾’和高级职员讌乐的地方。”

6. 天子及诸侯宴饮宾客或祭祀时所用的音乐。

   宋 李上交 《近事会元·雅歌杂蕃俗音法曲》：“时太常旧相传有宫商角徵羽讌乐五调歌各一奏， 縚 又令 元成 更相整比为七卷。”
