1. 指离现在不远的将来。

   《管子·度地》：“此五水者，因其利而往之可也。因而扼之可也，而不久常有危殆矣。” 晋 陶潜 《拟古》诗：“明明云閒月，灼灼叶中花，岂无一时好，不久当如何。” 清 李渔 《巧团圆·争继》：“我不久就要远行，夫人在家可耐心等候。” 洪深 《香稻米》第二幕：“好在 桂升 没有什么大不了的事情，不久就要出来的，你放心好了！”

2. 指相隔不长的时间。

   三国 魏 曹冏 《六代论》：“建置不久，则轻下慢上，平居犹惧其离叛，危急将如之何？” 明 王守仁 《传习录》卷下：“可惜不久即去世，平日许多错处皆不及改正。” 艾青 《＜诗选＞自序》：“不久，我得到 周恩来 同志的接见。”

3. 不能长久。

   《后汉书·皇后纪下·顺烈梁皇后》：“﹝朕﹞援立圣嗣，恨不久育养，见其终始。”
