汉语拼音：zhī xiàn

古代地方官名。宋代派京官统治一县的称“知某县事”，简称知县。明清两代为县级行政官吏的正式名称。

1. 官名。掌管一县的政事。知县之名始于 唐 ， 宋 代多以中央官员为县官，结衔称某官知某县事，至 明 始正式用作一县长官的名称， 清 代相沿不改，为正七品官。

   宋 赵彦卫 《云麓漫钞》卷十：“今差京官曰知县，差选人曰令，与 唐 异矣。”《儒林外史》第十六回：“忽听窗外锣响，许多火把簇拥着一乘官轿过去，后面马蹄一片声音，自然是本县知县过。” 杨沫 《青春之歌》第一部第五章：“我父亲在村中很有威望－－他在外面做过知县，现在告老还乡。”
