1. 谓持论正直，对错误意见表示反对。

2. 今用以指对他方的言论或行动提出强烈的反对意见。

   杨沫 《青春之歌》第一部第七章：“这个拱手把 东北 让给帝国主义的卖国计划，更加激怒了全国人民，于是，工人罢工，学生罢课，并且纷纷跑向 南京 去提出抗议。”

3. 进言；献议。

   《旧唐书·裴耀卿传》：“ 李怀光 以 河中 叛，朝廷欲以含垢为意， 佶 抗议请讨。上深器之，前席慰勉。” 清 钱谦益 《董应举》：“属当烽火震惊之时，遂能奋身而抗议。” 康有为 《感事》诗：“上帝清明閶闔开，纷紜抗议上云台。”

4. 犹高论。见解高远的议论。

   清 冯桂芬 《＜校邠庐抗议＞自序》：“名之曰‘抗议’，即位卑言高之意。”
