昆虫，成虫前翅中央有两个淡黄色的圆形斑纹，后翅尖与边缘黑灰色，昼伏夜出。幼虫头部褐色，背上和两侧有黄黑色纵线。蛹红褐色。是稻、麦、高粱、玉米等的主要害虫。有的地区叫行军虫、剃枝虫。
