鱼类。体长达50余厘米，黄褐色，有暗色斑点，无鳞。栖息于池塘、小河等处，常潜伏在泥洞或石缝中。是中国常见的淡水食用鱼。

1. 亦作“黄鱓”。鱼名。身体像蛇而无鳞，黄褐色，有黑色斑点。生活在水边泥洞里。也叫鳝鱼。

   宋 寇宗奭 《本草衍义》卷十七：“鱓鱼，腹下黄，世谓之黄鱓。此尤动风气，多食令人霍乱。向在京师，邻舍一郎官，因食黄鱓，遂致霍乱吐利。”
