1. 争斗；争夺。

   《礼记·曲礼上》：“教训正俗，非礼不备；分争辩讼，非礼不决。”《荀子·富国》：“如是则老弱有失养之忧，而壮者有分争之祸矣。” 南朝 陈 徐陵 《让五兵尚书表》：“尔时四郊多垒，七雄分争，国家制度日不暇给。”《三国演义》第一回：“ 周 末七国分争，併入於 秦 ；及 秦 灭之后， 楚 汉 分争，又併入于 汉 。” 郭沫若 《山中杂记·菩提树下》：“假如有别的同类要来分争，不管是雄是雌，它们一样地总是毫不容情地扑啄。”

2. 争吵。

   《红楼梦》第七回：“你女婿因前儿多喝了点子酒，和人分争起来。”《红楼梦》第二九回：“往日家里的小厮们和他的姐姐妹妹拌嘴，或是两口子分争，你要是听见了，还駡那些小厮们蠢，不能体贴女孩儿们的心肠，今儿怎么你也这样看起来了？”
