视线在水平线以上时，在视线所在的垂直平面内，视线与水平线所成的角叫做仰角。

仰角 [yǎng jiǎo]

1. 照准点在水平面之上时，该点之垂直角称为仰角或正角。对于观察高于水平面物体的观察者而言，过观察点的水平线和视线之间的角称为仰角。　　观测者到目标物之间的连线与观测者所在之水平面的夹角，称之为仰角。从水平面量起，向上为正，向下为负。此角乃是观测中心座标系（参见topocentric coordinate system）的量度之一。
