世界最长的河流。它的上源主要有两条：一条是发源于东非高原的白尼罗河，另一条是发源于埃塞俄比亚高原的青尼罗河。在苏丹中部汇合后称尼罗河，流经埃及注入地中海。长6 671千米。下游有大三角洲，富灌溉之利。阿斯旺附近建有阿斯旺大坝。
