宋范公偁《过庭录》第六十一条记载，孙山考取了末名举人，回乡后，有人问他：“我的儿子考中没有？” 孙山回答说：“解名尽处是孙山，贤郎更在孙山外。” 意思是榜上最后一名是孙山，你的儿子还在孙山的后边。后指考试没有考取或选拔时没被录取。解（jiè）。
