发光强度的非法定计量单位。通常所说的电灯泡的烛光数实际上是瓦特数。

1. 烛炬的亮光。亦指光亮。

   《史记·樗里子甘茂列传》：“臣闻贫人女与富人女会绩，贫人女曰：‘我无以买烛，而子之烛光幸有餘，子可分我餘光，无损子明而得一斯便焉。’” 宋 杨万里 《烛下瓶中江蜡二梅》诗：“江梅蜡梅同日折，白昼看来两清絶；如何对立烛光中，只见江梅白於雪。” 明 高启 《姑苏台》诗：“烛光远落 太湖 波，惊起鱼龙出没多。” 巴金 《军长的心》三：“ 上海 通讯员刚刚用雨布和木板遮好了窗里、门内的烛光，军长就推开木板门进来了。”

2. 传说中 舜 女之名。

   《山海经·海内北经》：“ 舜 妻 登比氏 ，生 宵明 、 烛光 。” 郭璞 注：“即二女字也，以能光照，因名云。”《淮南子·墬形训》：“ 西王母 在 流沙 之濒…… 宵明 、 烛光 在 河州 。” 南朝 梁 江淹 《遂古篇》：“帝之二女游 湘沅 兮， 宵明 、 烛光 ，向焜煌兮。”

3. 俗称电灯泡的功率单位。即瓦。

   《人民文学》1982年第10期：“昏暗的卧房里，只有一盏五烛光的灯泡，散发着幽微的光。”
