又称急行跳高”。田径运动项目之一。由助跑、单脚起跳、腾空越杆和落地等动作组成。有跨越式、剪式、滚式、俯卧式和背越式等过杆技术。以越过的横杆上缘的高度计算成绩。

1. 谓离地往上弹跳。

   《南史·周文育传》：“年十一，能反覆游水中数里，跳高六尺，与羣儿聚戏，众莫能及。”

2. 指武艺的一种。

   《儿女英雄传》第十八回：“那些家将也都会些撂跤打拳，马枪步箭，杆子单刀，跳高爬绳的本领。”

3. 田径运动项目之一，有急行跳高、撑竿跳高、立定跳高三种，前两种是正式比赛的项目。通常指急行跳高，运动员按照规则通过助跑后跳过横杆。
