昆虫，成虫身体细长，胸部有一对翅膀和三对细长的脚，幼虫（孑孓）和蛹都生长在水中。雄蚊吸植物的汁液。雌蚊吸人畜的血液，能传播疟疾、丝虫病、流行性乙型脑炎等病。最常见的有按蚊、库蚊和伊蚊三类。

1. 昆虫。雄蚊吸食花果液汁；雌蚊吸血，能传播疟疾、丝虫病和流行性乙型脑炎等疾病。
