鸟，身体淡褐色，多黑斑，头部有角状的羽毛，眼睛大而圆，昼伏夜出，吃鼠、麻雀等，对人类有益。常在深夜发出凄厉的叫声，迷信的人认为是一种不吉祥的鸟。有的地区叫夜猫子。
