1. 以亚音速传播的燃烧波称为爆燃。 就是炉镗中积存的可燃混合物瞬间，同时燃烧，从而使炉膛烟气侧压力突然升高的现象。严重时，爆燃产生的压力，可超过设计结构的允许值而造成水冷壁、刚性梁及炉顶、炉墙破坏。爆燃的产生必须要有三个条件（即爆燃三要素），缺一不可。一是有燃料和助燃空气的积存；二是燃料和空气混合物达到了爆燃的浓度；三是有足够的点火能源。锅炉在启动、运行、停运中，如何避免燃料和助燃空气积存就是杜绝炉膛爆燃的关键所在。
