清末袁世凯建立的封建军阀集团。1901年，袁任北洋大臣，所建军队称为北洋军。辛亥革命后，袁窃据大总统职位，广植党羽，形成控制中央和地方的军事集团。1916年，袁死后北洋军阀分裂为直、皖、奉三个派系。各派系在帝国主义操纵下，连年混战，给中国人民带来极大的灾难。北洋军阀在北伐战争前后相继覆灭。
