1. 事理上不一定要发生而发生的。与“必然”相对。

2. 间或；有时候。

   唐 元稹 《刘氏馆集隐客》诗：“偶然沽市酒，不越四五升。” 宋 苏轼 《和子由渑池怀旧》诗：“泥上偶然留指爪，鸿飞那復计东西！” 鲁迅 迭文《随感录》：“爱国者虽偶然怀旧，却专重在现世以及将来。”
