1. 犹黄泉。指人死后的葬处。

   汉 阮瑀 《七哀》诗：“冥冥九泉室，漫漫长夜臺。” 唐 崔珏 《哭李商隐》诗：“九泉莫叹三光隔，又送文星入夜臺。” 元 无名氏 《赚蒯通》第四折：“便做有春秋祭饗，也济不得他九泉下魂魄凄凉。” 巴金 《家》三二：“大少爷，象你这样好心肠， 梅芳 在九泉也会感激你。”

2. 指地下极深处。

   晋 潘岳 《西征赋》：“贯三光而洞九泉，曾未足以喻其高下也。” 清 马建忠 《适可斋记言·富民说》：“铁塔则上摩霄汉，矿井则深凿九泉。”

3. 指深渊。

   晋 葛洪 《抱朴子·名实》：“是以窃华名者，螻蜥腾於云霄；失实贾者，翠虯沦乎九泉。”

4. 喻社会底层。

   晋 葛洪 《抱朴子·勖学》：“以 游 夏 之资，而抑顿乎九泉之下。”
