为哀悼死者而穿的服装。我国旧时习俗用本色的粗布或麻布做成。

1. 居丧所穿的衣服。

   《周礼·天官·阍人》：“丧服、凶器不入宫。” 宋 高承 《事物纪原·吉凶典制·丧服》：“三王乃制丧服，则衰絰之起，自 三代 始也。” 陈白尘 《大风歌》第一幕：“ 鸣玉 ，取丧服来！让我先为皇上服丧。”

2. 指服丧或服丧的期限。

   晋 潘岳 《杨仲武诔》：“丧服同次，绸繆累月。” 巴金 《秋》一：“他们说再过几个月我的丧服就满了。”
