一种急救方法。在自然呼吸停止或严重抑制时（如溺水、电击、一氧化碳中毒等），借外力使胸腔发生节律性扩张与缩小，使气体进出于肺，促使呼吸运动恢复。一般用口对口法、仰卧提臂压胸法或使用呼吸器等。

1. 用人工帮助呼吸的急救法。中毒、触电、溺水、休克等患者，在其呼吸停止而心脏尚在跳动时，可用人工呼吸的方法抢救。方法有口对口吹气，仰卧压胸、俯卧压背等。
