主要执行登陆作战任务的海军兵种。由步兵、炮兵、装甲兵、工程兵等部队组成，有的还编有航空兵。装备有水陆两用坦克、水陆装甲输送车、气垫艇、火炮等适应登陆作战的武器装备、器材和运输工具。具有机动性强和适应多种环境作战的能力。
