通常指波长在1—10米（频率300—30兆赫）范围内的无线电波。有像光一样的直线传播的性质，应用于雷达和电视等方面。

超短波 [chāo duǎn bō]

1. 波长由十公分到十公尺，频率从三十至三千兆赫的电磁波。直进性很强，一般能穿透电离层而不被反射，但无法传到山或大建筑物后面。主要用于电视广播、通信、雷达等方面。
