阿拉伯人建立的伊斯兰教封建国家。公元7世纪30年代阿拉伯半岛在穆罕默德领导下统一后，阿拉伯人开始在圣战”旗帜下对外扩张，占领西亚、北非、中亚以及西班牙广大领土，形成庞大的地跨亚、非、欧三大洲的帝国。帝国统治者称哈里发，集政治、宗教大权于一身。9世纪中期起衰落，哈里发大权旁落。1258年被蒙古人所灭。
